Death, it surrounds you and engulfs you. It will either tear you apart from the inside with remorse or it will eat you alive with revenge and anger. Then their is the rare and third option. You can forget the pain and the hate, you can forget everything. Yet this option is even worse because then you'll forget the remorse, why you have the hate, and why you wanted revenge so strongly.
She opened her icy blue eyes as she awoke in the grass, ash and soot covered her from head to toe, her once pure white nightgown was now ripped and blackened. She sat up, her dirty white hair was now in messy curls, the ends blacked end from the ash and soot. She slowly stood up, but quickly stumbled and fell. Pain coursed through her as she put her hand on her left ankle. From what she could tell it wasn't broken, then again she wasn't a doctor. In fact she wasn't sure what she was, or who she was. She remembered how to walk and a few simple things but nothing about herself or why she looked like she did now.
She tried standing up again, this time she kept the weight off her injured ankle. Looking around all she saw was trees and grass. The need and want to find help caused her to lip off toward a random direction. Soon the girl stumbled upon a large and open area, in the center she saw a large mansion. She knew that someone had to be home so she quickly limped toward the house, her instincts driving her at this point. Once she finally made it to th door she leaned on it and knocked a few times, her eyes fluttered and she knew she would soon not be conscious. The door slowly opened and all she saw was a pair of bright yellow wyws and then she collapsed, a pair of strong arms soon catching her.
A rush of wind whipped past the young girl as she quickly sat up. she looked around to see that she was laying in a large and luxurious bed, she was now clean and she was wearing a pure white nightgown instead of the tattered and dirty one. Not one drop of soot, ash, or blood could be found on her. She slowly climbed out of the bed, hoping and praying that is was just a horrible nightmare. The second she stood she fell to the ground and cried out in pain as her ankle gave way. She heard foot steps walk toward her and felt someone kneel next to her. "What do you think you are doing?" She heard the man ask. She looked up at him, his eyes were a red color and his hair was medium length and jet black. He had a forced smile on his face as he looked down at her. The girl soon opened her mouth to say something but nothing came out but silence, it wasn't fear or anything. It was simply that she had forgotten. The man picked her up and gently laid her gently on the bed, he pulled the covers over her. "You might want to try and remember how to speak before the Young Master sees you." He said as he turned and left the room, closing the door behind him. She laid there in deep thought, how did you make sound come out of your mouth to speak? She thought to herself. She took in a deep breath and gently let it out creating an h sound. She tried it again this time faster, "ahhh" she tested out the use of her voice. She was startled by the slight sound of her voice at first. She tried it once again, taking a deep breath in and she then released it. "Anna." She said in a whisper like voice. The girl sat there puzzled, somewhere in the back of her mind she knew her name wasn't Anna. The name although did bring her an overwhelming wave of sadness. She quickly closed her eyes to stop any tears.
Then suddenly the door opened and a women with red hair that was up in pigtails and was wearing a maids uniform walked in. "Hello Deary!" She said, her voice was loud and obnoxious, the white haired girl just starred at the woman unsure of what was going to happen. After a minute of awkward silence she began to get flustered and worried. "Sebastian told me to come and dress you so that you could go and speak to the Young Master." She explained as she quickly walked toward the closet. The girl pulled the covers off herself and put her good foot on the floor, she kept her bad one in the air and hopped over to the new and strange woman. She pointed to a pretty white laced dress, the woman looked at her and smiled. "This one?" She said and grabbed the dress. The girl nodded, soon after getting dressed the woman looked at the girl and smiled. "Oh don't you look lovely!" The woman remarked. "You have beautiful eyes, so bright and blue!" She added. The girl smiled at the woman's kind remarks. "How old are you?" The woman asked the girl, before the girl could even shrug and familiar voice was heard. "What's going on?" The woman and the girl turned and looked at the man from before at the same time. "Oh Sebastian! We were, I was just, I mean... we.... I'm sorry!" She shouted nervously. "Mey-Rin just help her to the Young Master's office." Sebastian ordered. Mey-Rin nodded and grabbed on to the girl's waist, supporting her so that she could walk instead of hop around. The two followed Sebastian through the halls.
They turned the corner and a young boy, around twelve or thirteen barged out of a door and marched down the hall."What took you so long?" The boy asked as he looked from Sebastian, to Mey-Rin, and lastly the girl. "I'm so sorry its all my fault!" Mey-Rin says panicking a bit. The boy made eye contact with the girl. "What's your name?" He asked her wanting to get the the questions right away instead of wasting time. The girl took a deep breath and tried to speak, but nothing came out. She looked and saw the boys frustration and inpatients. "Maybe she forgot." A man's voice suggested, the girl glanced to see a man with bright yellow eyes and jet black hair that was slicked back. "What makes you say that, Claude?" the boy asked him. "She looks blank." He said simply. "M-maybe she doesn't speak English?" Mey-Rin pitched in her own idea in a shakily whisper. The boy seemed to be annoyed and had had enough with this. He turned and walked to his office. In complete desperation she opened her mouth and shouted the first thing she thought of and could force out. "Forgot!" The boy then turned around to look a her. Her eyes were wide, and a bit afraid. "Name..... forgot." She said trying to keep the words fresh in her mind. She was shaking, and was thankful that Mey-Rin was supporting her because she would of fell other wise. "Do you remember anything?" The boy asked. She shook her head and looked down sadly, wanting despriatly to know and tell more. "Very well, someone take her back to her room and help her learn to speak properly." He ordered as he walked back to his office, Sebastian looked over at Claude as he walked into the office following his Young Master. Claude sighed as Sebastian closed the door to the office keeping themselves inside. He walked over to the girl and Mey-Rin. "Mey-Rin you can go back to work." She nodded and quickly let go of the girl without a warning and ran off. The girl immediately fell only to be caught by Claude. He then picked her up and carried her bridal style all the way to her room, the journey back was silent.
